Bangalore's first International Film Festival, to be held at The Collection, UB City from 16th March 2012 is being organized by an ensemble crew that includes noted personalities from the fields of Art & Cinema. Is a noted film director, and one of the pioneers of the Parallel Cinema in Kannada cinema, who has won the National Film Award for Best Film four times, Ghatashraddha (1977), Tabarana Kathe (1986), Thaayi Saheba (1997) and Dweepa (2001). He has been awarded the Padma Shri in 2011, the Fourth Highest Civilian Award awarded by the Government of India. A gold medalist from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Girish Kasaravalli started his career in films with Ghatashraddha (1977), over the next 30 years he directed eleven films and a tele-serial. The Film he made to fulfill his Diploma "AVASHESH" was awarded the best Student Film. Avashesh also won the President's Silver Lotus award for the best Short Film of that year.
Is an Internationally renowned popular Music Director, who started off his musical career with jingles. Now in a span of 12 years he has composed/produced over 3000 jingles for varied national and international clients. He has also been a music director with the Kannada Film Industry, and his song 'Baa Maleye Baa' was adjudged the No. 1 song of 2008.
Ricky has produced 4 albums with Virgin Records of which 'Fiery Drums' was the first ever album by an Indian artist to feature on Microsoft’s 'Zune' Homepage. He has also Music Directed the series 'Kamasutra Lounge' with Universal Music USA which has gone on to becoming one of the most successful fusion albums in the USA.
In 2011, Ricky composed music for the opening ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup at Dhaka. This was hailed as the best opening ceremony in the history of international cricket. Ricky has been awarded the prestigious 'Clio' award for advertising excellence – one of the most prestigious honors’ internationally. He has also been shortlisted for 'Cannes' three times and has won the Adfest Asia award.
Ms. Uzma Irfan joined the Prestige Group in January 2007 at a crucial juncture when the brand was undergoing rapid expansion and diversification. Uzma then took on the role of Director – Corporate Communications in an effort to streamline all branding and communication related initiatives. Over the years, the Prestige Group has grown by leaps and bounds and she can be credited for single-handedly strengthening the public image of the company during this phase.
From systematically profiling the company and its diverse interests in the media to assisting the company in its various networking forums, she has played an instrumental role in communication and marketing.
Uzma Irfan is currently responsible for Marketing Communication, Corporate Communication, Branding and all image related initiatives for the Prestige Group. Uzma has also successfully established a media-buying house 'Sublime' to help manage the diverse and voluminous advertising needs of the Group. Other milestones include the conceptualization and design of the company's brand manual. She has also developed the widely-popular 'Falcon News', the company's quarterly newsletter which has grown to become a recognized magazine with a circulation of over 15,000 copies, targeting customers and stake-holders, both in India and abroad.
Among the many hats she dons, she is also currently the Editor of 'The Collection@UB City' – the newsletter for the ultra-premium luxury mall, UB City - The Collection, a joint venture between Prestige and the UB Group. The magazine can now be found on all Kingfisher flights as well as leading Taj properties. In an extension of this role, Uzma also handles the marketing and promotional activities for this uber chic mall. Here she has been lauded for her success in creating landmark entertainment properties such as 'Art Bengaluru', 'Trousseau Week', etc.
She is also an avid supporter of young and upcoming artists and she never misses an opportunity to help them showcase their work at the art gallery at UB City.
Mr. Srinivasa Santhanam is a graduate from Film & Television Institute of Tamil Nadu, India. He has been associated with the world of films from sometime now having worked with the Indian National Television Broadcaster, then with world largest producer of Documentaries, i.e. Films Division of India and finally for nearly 15 years with International Film Festival of India. Since 2009, has been working as Chief Programmer for Mumbai Film Festival, Programme Director for the Pune International Film Festival, Advisor cum Programmer for the Chennai International Film Festival and the Lucknow CMS International Children Film Festival.
